About the Artist

Suzanne Marie Allen B.F.A.
Florida Artist Painting Florida Images
After moving into a house on one of the bays along side the Intra Coastal Waterway in 2010, Suzanne Marie rediscovered the joy of painting outdoor landscapes. For her it was like a match being struck; a renewed passion for painting burst forth as she painted along the Intra-Coastal waterways of Florida. She joined the East Coast Plein Air Painters and became part of the largest Art Movement in History; painting “en Plein Air.” She is still loving it to this day.
Plein Air painting wasn’t new to Suzanne. While she was attending the University of Florida in Gainesville she loved to walk the ridge along Paynes Prairie and create oil paintings in the shade of the huge oak trees. After graduating with Honors from the Fine Art Dept. in 1994, she won a State of Florida, Art in Public Works competition to paint a mural in a new government building. The 30' x 100' mural started her off on a successful, fun career, painting murals for commercial and residential clients. She has won numerous awards and has a scrapbook full of news articles that have been written about her.
In 2010 Suzanne Marie returned to her hometown of Port Orange, FL where she built her art studio with a view of the Halifax river. Today, she uses Plein Air paintings to reference her bigger works in oil and acrylics. She is a member of local art organizations and belongs to conservation groups that protect the very landscapes she loves to paint. Out on location she often becomes one of Nature’s Ambassadors, as she talks to people who are interested in what she is painting. She has found her mission: to show people the beauty of “The Real Florida” and encourage their involvement in preserving it’s natural environment and wildlife.
